The third chapter of the Assoluto Collection is dedicated to “Dubhe,” a star in the mysterious constellation of the Great Bear. Dubhe was a polar star in ancient times and will once again take up this function after the equinox in 2050. When exploring themes and materials for the already complex and bold “Ursa” of the Luna Collection, Dubhe emerged – unforgettable, cryptic, perhaps indecipherable, but with a fiery, wild character that sends a jolt of energy to one’s heart. Slowly distilled, macerated, and aged oils lie at the center of this incredible composition, chief among them white oud oil or boyah, distilled from the creamy, white, uninfected wood around the oud oleoresin, but also sandalwood and a dark, pungent, princely oud oil distilled from priceless pieces of agarwood. Flanked by a leathery, austere combination of roses and saffron, the oud materials gleam like pieces of old gold, unearthed from the ground. Ancient-smelling and a bit wild, this is a scent for the true enthusiasts of high quality oud mukhallats.
