After three to four cycles of use, these barrels naturally begin to lose their potency, diminishing their ability to impart a strong and distinctive olfactory character. This is not a concern with new barrelssuch as chestnut, acacia, American oak, or French oakas we can reorder identical barrels from the same cooperage. With consistency in wood origin, size, craftsmanship, and charring, the aged alcohol maintains its intended aromatic profile.

Vintage barrels, however, tell a different story. These barrels carry history but often lack documentation. We rarely know their origin, the time of crafting, or the precise methods used. This makes their olfactory signature impossible to replicate. Once a vintage barrel is exhausted, its unique scent fingerprint cannot be reproduced or cloned.
